The story Handa’s Surprise to enable the children to try some exotic foods and learn where in the world they come from and food printing. A greengrocer’s shop to promote healthy foods

Activities will be set up but child led initiatives will drive the learning too!

Class information:

  • Children will bring home phonics work on a Friday and maths sometimes too. This work stays at home and does not need returning.
  • Reading books will be sent home when your child is ready to tackle their first reading book. Each book will be decodable or may be picture based depending on the stage your child is at with their reading. In the meantime, please continue reading to your child as this is so important.
  • Book bags do not need to come home every night (unless you specifically request it). They will be sent home with homework and/or pictures on a Friday.  Nothing should be brought into school to fit in with the Government guidelines on keeping safe.

We are continuing to learn our letter sounds. There are a lot to learn so the more you do at home the easier this will be! The website https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/reading/learn-to-read-phonics/ is really helpful and goes through the sounds in the order we are learning them. The centre pages of your reading record also has the order of the sounds.
